We have planned work to renew mains on our water distribution network on the A5025 & B5109 in the Pentraeth area of Anglesey which may affect over 1500 of our customers. This work is due to take place on Thursday 26 April between 10pm to Friday 28th April at 4am. We have delivered cards to all properties which will be affected by this work, giving advance notice that water supplies will be interrupted during these times. We apologise for the inconvenience this essential work may cause, and assure people that we will work as quickly as possible to complete the job and return the system to normal. Anyone needing to speak to us about this work should call us on 0800 052 0130 quoting reference number 92690034. All senior staff involved in this work will carry a Welsh Water identity card, showing their photograph, and they will always show this for inspection. Under normal circumstances it should not be necessary to enter your home. A team of Welsh Water workers has been presented with a ‘thank-you’ cake by Carol and Bryan Manley from Rumney in Cardiff. The cake, iced with the message “Well done boys - great job,” was given to the team as a gesture of thanks on behalf of residents in Trelawney Avenue and Crescent where, they have been working for nearly three months.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is to create 40 new high quality jobs in Newport and a further 10 in north Wales at new ‘state of the art’ laboratory facilities. The not for profit utility is creating a new water quality laboratory in the former HSBC building in Tredegar Park, Newport, which will be operational at the end of this year. A smaller laboratory at Bretton, near Broughton, has just become operational. Dŵr Cymru is investing £8.6million creating these new facilities.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s continued commitment to recruiting high-calibre graduates is paying off as graduate Alex Herridge helps the company retain a prestigious environmental standard. Alex, who joined the utility business on the Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water Graduate Programme in 2009, compiled and evaluated information from across the entire water company to confirm ongoing reductions in its carbon footprint and successfully retain accreditation for Welsh Water from the Carbon Trust. Alex has subsequently been appointed as a member of the company’s energy team, and will continue to monitor and report on Dŵr Cymru’s carbon reduction programme.

A Dwr Cymru Welsh Water employee has brought the flavour of Zambia back to Wales, as she recounts her experiences of her recent trip to the country with the charity WaterAid, at the opening of the new African village at the company’s Cog Moors Education Centre, near Dinas Powys, and taking part in its launch of the new water cleanliness lesson.
