Applying for a meter
Call us on 0800 052 0140 between 8am and 8pm Monday-Friday.
Or between 8:30am and 1:30pm on Saturday.
We will take you through a short meter survey and if you still wish to have a meter installed, we will send you an application to complete and return to us.
Once we have received this we will arrange for an inspector to survey your property to determine whether it is suitable for a meter to be installed.
If it is possible to install a meter then we will arrange for this to be done. If your property isn’t suitable for a meter installation then you can consider moving to our Assessed Measured Charge.
Approximately 35% of our customers have a water meter at their home. If you live on your own, or if you and your family spend a lot of time away from home, then you may find that you save money by having a meter.
However, this does depend on how much water you use. It is important to consider:
- The number of people who live in your property
- How often you have visitors staying with you
- The number and types of appliances in your property (e.g. do you have a power shower which uses more water than an ordinary shower?)
- The way in which you use water (e.g. do you water your garden with a sprinkler or hose pipe? Do you take a lot of baths rather than showers?).
Metered charges are based on the amount of water used plus a fixed standing fee. Leaks in your home can be a cause of increased bills and are your responsibility. Read and make a record of your meter reading often to identify any potential problems early, if you suspect a problem contact us as soon as possible.
