The Elan Estate is situated in an extremely picturesque part of Mid Wales close to the market town of Rhayader, there are 6 reservoirs with a total area of 1,500 acres.

Sunday 25 Fungus Foray
Come along on this short walk to look at the fascinating world of fungi with Ray Woods of Plantlife. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2pm, back around 5pm.
Saturday 1 Textile Workshop – ‘Art of the doll’
Starting with a basic calico doll form you will be able to paint it, stamp it, dress and/or embellish it. Be as whacky as you like! There is a £20.00 charge which will include the basic doll form, stuffing and use of paints. Please contact Fiona King 01597 870311 or email@example.com to book a place. This workshop will take place at the Visitor Centre between 10am and 4pm.
Saturday 15 An Introduction to Photography Using a Digital Camera
The day is designed for people who wish to learn more about photography using a digital camera. The emphasis will be on practical ways of improving both technique and results with an opportunity to discuss issues and problems resulting from the session. The day will be led by David and Catherine Clarke who have held a number of photographic exhibitions locally, including at the Visitor Centre. Numbers are very limited so please book early on 01597 810898. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 10am, till 4pm.
Saturday 22 – Sunday 30 Autumn Antics
Call into the Visitor Centre anytime between 11am and 4pm to pick up your collecting bag with instructions about what to do. A prize awaits you on your return. Entry 50p per child. This is a family event - no unaccompanied children please.
Tuesday 25 Dam Open Day
A chance for you to go into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. Our team of Rangers will be on hand to direct people and answer any questions. There are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels. Children should be carefully supervised at all times. Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance. Turn up anytime between 1pm and 4pm. Entrance £1 adults - children 50p. All proceeds to the charity WaterAid.
Sunday 11 The Monks’ Trod
A 6 mile high-level hillwalk with only a 150m ascent, following in the footsteps of the Cistercian Monks. Numbers are very limited so please book early on 01597 810898. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 10am, back about 2.30pm.
