The overall £ 150 million water treatment works investment programme in North Wales is being progressed as quickly as possible, most of the projects are scheduled to be completed in the period 2010-2015, although design and construction work for several of the sites, was accelerated into last year ensuring completion of projects at Cwellyn, Rhiwgoch and the Ultra Violet installation programme to protect against cryptosporidium.

Work proposed
UV and new chloramination plant to be installed at Service Reservoir site.
Benefits
UV deactivates any cryptosporidium oocysts in the water. Chloramination provides extended disinfection in long rural systems and reduced the risk of Trihalomethane (THM) formation
