Welsh Water is proud to support WaterAid, the UK’s only major charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.
In our first 12 months of fundraising, staff across the business raised and donated over £100,000 to the charity. We have now set ourselves a target of raising £1 million by 2014.
Fundraising activities to date have included: Charity Balls, Dragon Boat Races and ‘It’s a Knockout’ events. Our Managing Director, Nigel Annett, also pledged his support to the charity by raising £10,000 in sponsorship for his participation in the world’s largest one-day cycling event - the amateurs’ stage of the Tour de France, the Etape du Tour. The company has also set up a WaterAid lottery which has been enthusiastically supported by staff.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, we have a network of volunteers who have been spreading awareness of the charity and its work across local communities.
