Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has received two prestigious awards from Business in the community
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water picked up two prestigious awards at this years Business in the Community Awards Ceremony held in Cardiff. The company was awarded the Silver Jubilee Big Tick Award for its long term commitment to education support for the communities it serves. This special Jubilee award in celebration of BITC’s 25th anniversary of its founding, recognised companies whose programmes have delivered a long term positive impact over ten years or more.
Richard Curtis, Company Secretary said “This is one of 42 awards made by BITC in the UK and only three in Wales. We submitted an entry based on our support for education through our ‘Living and Learning with Water’ programme, our first education centre at Cilfynydd and the subsequent centres developed at Cog Moors, Cardiff, Elan Valley, Mid Wales and Alwen in N Wales”
“We did not know before the awards ceremony but Dwr Cymru Welsh Water was also named the BITC 2007 Regional Company of the Year for Wales, which is a fantastic endorsement of our achievements in the last six years” added Richard.
The Regional Company of the Year Award is awarded to companies who can demonstrate an integrated approach to responsible business practice across all impact areas – marketplace, workplace, environment and community.
