Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water working in partnership with Careers Wales and EBP has an excellent track record in education and seconding teachers to their award winning education centres. They are offering an exciting development opportunity within industry for a 12 month secondment of a teacher to its Environmental Education Centre at Cilfynydd, Nr Pontypridd. The secondment does not affect your terms and conditions as you will still be employed by your LEA, therefore there will be no break of service.
The successful candidate will be part of a small team and will be required to produce and teach a programme of science linked lessons to the National Curriculum for predominantly Key Stage Two pupils as part of Welsh Waters’ Living and Learning with Water education strategy. The role will also include business related responsibilities such as budget control and management responsibilities including managing teachers inset and teacher placements. Visiting schools will be attending the Centre between three and five days per week.
The start of the appointment will be 1st September 2010 for a year’s secondment which will end on 31 August 2011. Holidays will be 30 days taken throughout the year.
Welsh Water will contribute £30,000 towards the secondment, plus training and travelling expenses incurred during the year.
